Chocolate Bars

Chocolate bars must have come from heaven!

Although you could never say that chocolate bars are diet food, how can anyone live without this favored treat? Sure, I know there are a few souls out there who don’t give chocolate its due, but the majority opinion goes with a resounding yes to the delights of chocolate. Chocolate confections are produced in just about every country in the civilized world. From Algeria to Australia and back, there are chocolatiers with loyal followings of their products. There are websites devoted to chocolate bars, each claiming a database of more chocolate products than the next. In a search for chocolate, you certainly don’t need to look far. As anyone on a continual diet can tell you, you can’t walk to the office vending machine for a healthy snack without confronting a chocolate bar that screams, “No! Buy me! Forget the apple!”

There are lots of reasons which give chocolate bars an eternal place of esteem in the world of food choices. Personally, I believe the main reason is that it tastes like heaven. Close your eyes, take a bite and you are instantly transported to a better place, if not heaven. However, I surely hope there is chocolate in heaven! Could there be a more delightful taste?

Another factor which has won chocolate permanent status in almost every society is its association with romance. When you give a gift of chocolate, it’s tantamount to saying, “I love you!” You don’t usually bring a box of chocolates to people you don’t like. If you give a child a choice between a piece of fruit and a chocolate bar, which one does the child pick? There you are.

Chocolate can turn a bad hair day into a good day indeed. It’s such a delicious food. Yes, in my book it’s food. Chocolate has the magical power of being able to lift your spirits with the simple act of eating it. Chocolate is good short term therapy.

Chocolate bars contain antioxidants and we all know how good those are. Antioxidants are powerful cancer fighting agents. It is also true you’d have to eat pounds and pounds to really provide this benefit as a standalone agent. Then again, every little bit counts.

Chocolatiers spend their time thinking of new fillings around which to wrap a chocolate candy. Some have wafer-like fillings which taste like peanut butter and melt in your mouth. Maple sugar fillings dissolve blissfully around the chocolate. There are nuts and chews and marzipan fillings. A little cherry or orange liqueur in the center just adds to this gourmet break from the real world.

How dieters manage in a world of chocolate bars is beyond my comprehension. Say, do you think that apple in the Garden of Eden was made of … chocolate?

Asking the Right Bankruptcy Questions

When you are in deep trouble with your finances, you may have tried just about everything to get out of your hole. Some like to go through credit counseling or get debt consolidation loans. However, those things don’t always work for everyone. In some cases, families or individuals find that bankruptcy is the only option that they have. Though this seems like the easy way out, most won’t advise it unless it is the only thing that can save them financially. Before anyone goes about doing this, they had better ask the right bankruptcy questions before they begin.

One question to ask would be if they should do it on their own or if they should have a lawyer. Most are better off with a lawyer, but that is not always possible. This is a decision that each person will have to make, but it is one of the first bankruptcy questions that they should ask themselves. Some lawyers who handle bankruptcy know that money is more than limited, so they may take payment plans. Doing more research on bankruptcy lawyers can answer some of these questions. You may even find a great one through the Internet if you look around.

Another of the most important bankruptcy questions that anyone should ask would be what this will do to their credit. Though some think that they are going to be better off, that is not always the case. You can get credit after bankruptcy, but it is not always the credit that you want, and it will come with a very high interest rate. Credit consolidation loans and other options should be considered first because they will not be as harmful to your credit situation as bankruptcy will be when it is all said and done.

Other bankruptcy questions might include how long the process might take and if there are any debts that might be excluded. There are times when you may have to go to court for your proceedings, and other times you may be able to skip that step with the help of a lawyer. You may also find that some debts like student loans are exempt from bankruptcy. That means you will still owe that money once you have gone through the process, and it will still be on your credit report. You can think of bankruptcy as a new start, but one that definitely comes with a price.

Body Jewelry Safety

I recently got my nose pierced, and was surprised about how the jewelry worked. I have my ears pierced at age ten, and have not really had to worry too much about them since then. The piercings have healed and my earrings go in and out without worry. I have no infections, and things are as if they were supposed to be that way naturally. I found that I had to learn to clean and take care of a new piercing all over again. I learned a few things about body jewelry safety, even though the nose ring is not really considered to be of the body.

When you are cleaning a piercing for body jewelry, you don’t want to use rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. This is because the body will think of the jewelry in that spot as something it has to get rid of and will push it the body jewelry out as it tries to heal. You have to talk with the person who is doing your piercing about what you should use so that this does not happen to you. Some types of jewelry can’t be pushed out, but you want to use the right stuff anyway.

Professional Cover Letters

There’s somewhat of a secret to finding the right job. It all starts with knowing what you want to do for a living. Then you have to make a choice regarding college. How much higher education is required for the field you’re pursuing? Will you need an associate’s degree, or possibly a PhD? You must get the education out of the way if you plan to realistically vie with today’s competition. And then there’s experience. This is the hard part. You’ll notice that many job positions require a specific amount of experience. I’ve seen some that demand up to 10 years. Well, this is not so realistic for recent college graduates. You’re likely to have the degree, but no experience just yet. What you need now is a stellar resume that highlights the skills you do possess in a well articulated manner. Oh, and let’s not forget a professional cover letter.

I’m one of those brave individuals that strived to craft my own resume. I started simply by brainstorming and creating a list on my talents and education. Then I proceeded to turn my notes into a well-written resume. Okay, at least I think it’s good. If this sounds like a pain to you, you might want to consider the services of a professional resume writer. You can find one on the web and have them send you a copy of the finished product via email. Pretty convenient. However, even after your brilliant resume is complete, you still need to focus on the professional cover letter. Each potential employer will be expecting one of these. They want to know why they should consider you in particular, why it is you want to work for their company, and what makes you stand out amongst the rest. A professional cover letter can often sell the resume to an employer.

Alternative Health

Many people are pretty polarized on the alternative health care debate. They are either completely for or completely against it. On the one hand, there are people who stand with tradition entirely and are unwilling to compromise. They believe that normal medical health is the highest level that the treatment of diseases has ever reached. They don’t believe in any alternative health treatment at all, viewing it as unscientific and probably unhelpful as well.

On the other hand, there are alternative health fanatics. I know some people who will only use holistic health services and nothing else. They won’t even take prescription drugs if they believe they can get better with herbs. They believe that science is overrated and that some things can’t be measured in numbers.

I always try to avoid either extreme in my own practices. I have had some great success with alternative health, and definitely wouldn’t give it up. On the other hand, I think that science is very valuable. Traditional Western medicine has done a lot of great things for us. It has brought us a new understanding of the physical body, excellent drugs and treatment options, incredible scans which allow us to see inside the body, and many other helpful technologies. To throw it all away based on a vague belief in the power of herbs is foolish.

Halloween Books

The long tradition of Halloween is still fascinating to adults and children alike. It’s the time for scary stories, dressing up and trick or treat. There are many different Halloween books that look at various aspects of the celebration. One of the most comprehensive of these is The Halloween Encyclopedia, compiled by Lisa Morton. The illustrated book explores folk customs from around the world and the associated rituals and artifacts. Popular culture features in a list of literature and movies, dating from 1714-2001.

Famous authors, such as Edgar Allan Poe, H.P Lovecraft and James Joyce contribute to A Halloween Reader: Poems, Stories, And Plays from Halloweens Past. The compilation is edited by Lesley Pratt Bannatyne. Halloween books also feature food, which is one of the most important ingredients at the witching hour. There are lots of recipes to choose from, including traditional Pumpkin Pie and Toffee Apples. The kids will love gingerbread, popcorn and marshmallows and everything can be washed down with Pumpkin Punch. Halloween can be a chilly affair and there is a recipe for a hearty soup, namely Butternut Squash and Pumpkin Soup with grated Ginger and Dried Chili.

One of the most popular family movies is the Tim Burton directed animation, The Nightmare Before Christmas. There is a book version too and it’s an ideal gift for Halloween. The story concerns Jack Skellington and his friends in Halloweentown. Jack is responsible for organizing the Halloween festivities each year but becomes bored with them. Looking for a new challenge, he discovers Christmas Town and a great adventure follows as Jack realizes that there is no place as good as home. It’s one of the best Halloween books for reading to young children after their trick or treat excursion.

Ballroom Dancing

Some art forms are enduring and dancing is certainly one of them. Ballroom dancing is a pleasant hobby for some and a more serious undertaking for those involved in competitions. It has always appealed to older people but the younger generation have discovered its delights, largely due to TV shows and the movie, Strictly Ballroom.

The pastime has never been more in vogue than it is today. Dancing classes are thriving. Couples want to learn how to perform the steps at their high school prom, company dinner dance or just for their own enjoyment. There are American Style and International Standard ballroom dancing routines and there is something for everyone to enjoy. Some choose the dances with long traditions, such as the Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot or Polka. Others prefer to strut their stuff to an American Smooth or a 1950s Jive.

Latin music is popular throughout the world and the dances that accompany the music are in demand. These dances are a world away from the formal dances of yesteryear’s ballrooms. The Rumba, Samba and Argentine Tango are exciting and full of energy. All these different dances are part of the ballroom dancing scene and there are world champions in the specific dances. A professional dancer can be expected to be very impressive, no matter what kind of dance it is.

Best Locks

Recently, I was watching a news special. Apparently, there is a technique called bumping that will work on all but the best locks. You may think that that expensive deadbolt on your front door will keep you secure, but it just might not. Bump keys are simple technique that have been used by criminals for generations, but recently the tactic has become more popular. Basically, with the filed down key, a screwdriver, and a little bit of patience a criminal can gain access to your door.

Supposedly the best door locks can defeat this technique, but I wanted to find out for myself. I live in an area where people don’t usually worry about having the best locks. Our neighborhood is pretty safe, schools are pretty good, and the police patrol regularly. Nevertheless, even if I didn’t have the best lock on my door I wanted one tough enough to stop someone from easily gaining entry to my house. I wanted to test it out and see if it was good enough.

I had a friend who is pretty good at lock picking, and he offered to help me out. When he looked at my door, he knew right away that I did not have one of the best locks. It was a pretty middle-of-the-road lock – good enough to stop someone from forcing the door with brute force for awhile, but not good enough to stop a clever lock picker or someone who is determined to get in. To test out his assertion, we tried making a bump key. Sure enough, it worked.

Cheap Apartments for Students

Finding cheap rent for students can be easier or harder depending on the town you live and. If, for example, you live in New York, it can be almost impossible to find cheap apartments for students. If on the other hand you’re going to a small liberal arts school or community college in a small city, you can probably find cheap student apartments rather easily.

If you’re looking for cheap student housing, the first place to start is by talking to the University. Sometimes, university housing is the most economically viable option. It will include everything – room and board – for one fairly affordable price. If you are a student on financial aid., you might even be able to find a cheap apartment for students in subsidized university housing. It is not guaranteed to work, but it is a great place to start looking.

One of the more popular ways to find cheap apartments for students is to share housing. A lot of students get rooms and houses for rent, or simply split apartments with other students. This is an especially good option if you know someone who you could live with. If you have never shared rooms with housemates before, it can be a little difficult at first. Knowing your housemate moving into an apartment makes things a lot easier.
